Here at CTown, we came up with a fun, monthly challenge awhile back of trying to pair Zodiac signs to food dishes that possess the same qualities as that sign. We call them: Food-o-scopes (a clever play on 'horoscopes'). Even though we start a little late in the year (thanks COVID) check out each one starting in May below:
May: Taurus ♉︎ April 21st - May 20th
First up: Taurus. Taurus's are known for their dependability and ability to soothe even the roughest days. What dish has similar qualities? Without a doubt it's Chicken Noodle Soup. Anytime I was sick when you were younger, any time I was feeling down, my mom always made me her homemade chicken noodle soup. And every time she made it, regardless of the situation, I felt better after. Taurus's have the same effect on people around them and, to me, will always be known as the Chicken Noodle Soup sign.
June: Gemini ♊︎ May 21st - June 21st
Next up: Gemini. The Gemini sign's most important traits are their expressiveness and versatility. So what dish can be compared to a Gemini? PASTA! To start, pasta is probably the most versatile food in the world! The amount of different things you can do with pasta is infinite. You can use different sauces, different toppings, different styles of pasta...literally whatever you can think of, you can do that with a pasta dish. This is a perfect segway into the expressive trait, as it is so easy to express yourself into a pasta dish. Feeling sad? Use some red sauce. Feeling happy? Maybe some pesto? Who knows, the choices are endless!
July: Cancer ♋︎ June 22nd - July 22nd
Next up: Cancer. Cancer signs are known for being sentimental, intuitive, and reliable! What dish is our ol' reliable? Abuela's pernil is the first thing that comes to mind! Similar to the Chicken Noodle Soup mentioned above, Pernil is one of those dishes that never lets you down. This delicious pork dish always has a special place in our hearts, knowing that every Christmas, Pernil will be waiting for us on the table ready to devour! Cancer signs are similar in that they are smart and are always there when you need someone to care.
August: Leo ♌︎ July 23rd - August 22nd
Next up: Leo. Leo's are best known for being the most fiery and dramatic sign. That gives us the perfect idea for what dish we could equate a Leo too: Elotes! Just like Leos, Elotes are fiery in the spices that coat the deliciously sweet corn interior. Feeling a little fiery dramatic today? Go out and get an Elote so show everyone exactly how you're feeling!
September: Virgo ♍︎ September 16th - October 30th
Next up: Virgo. The Virgo sign is best known for being practical and loyal, so what dish is known for the same? Definitely Arroz con Gandules (rice with pigeon peas). This simple, but delicious, dish is as practical as it gets. It's so easy to make, and always hits the spot whenever you are able to have it to eat. Virgos will always be there for you with the best advice whenever you need it, just like Arroz con Gandules.
