Rebeca Huffman's Dulce De Leche Coquito

Ingredients:

Spiced tea-

  • 1.5 cup of water
  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 3 Star Anise
  • Fresh ginger, sliced (thumb portion)

Other ingredients for blender-

  • 1 can each of Coconut milk, Evaporated milk, Condensed milk, Cream of Coconut, and *Dulce de Leche
  • White Rum to your preference. I do a cup and a half. 

*Tip: if you can’t find a can of dulce de leche you can make your own by taking a can of condensed milk (remove the label but do not open the can) and submerging it in boiling water on medium for 2.5 hours. Once you open it you’ll notice the change of color and voila… dulce de leche!

Directions:

  1. Make the tea and after 15 minutes of it boiling on medium/medium high, take it off the heat, allow it to cool off for 15 minutes, strain and then incorporate it into the blender with the other ingredients listed above.  
  2. Blend for at least 2 minutes to get it nice and incorporated. Transfer into your storage container (adding a cinnamon stick) and refrigerate for a couple hours.
